Mat Cutting and Framing Workshop, April 2001
Release Date: 3/30/2001. Expired: 4/19/2001
Learn the process of framing from start to finish in a mat cutting and framing workshop at The Renaissance Center. The one day workshops are scheduled for Thursday, April 12 and Thursday April 19 from 12:00-4:00pm. Tuition for the one day workshop is $50 and registration deadline for either date is April 5.
Students will learn the basic calculations for matting and framing standard sizes. Each registered student will be supplied with the needed materials to mat, mount and frame an 8 X 10 picture. Students are asked to bring their art or photo to be framed.
“Almost everyone has an abundance of unframed art or photographs that end up in drawers and boxes. Most of them are not framed,” states Curtis Southerland, Gallery Curator and workshop instructor. “This workshop teaches students how to prepare their own matting and framing for a fraction of the cost. It is a practical workshop for anyone who doesn’t want to spend extra or just wants to create their own.”
Besides the financial advantages of being able to mat and frame their own works, participants will learn that they are not bound by any particular size. Students will learn that they can measure the size they need. This life long skill gives the individual more control over their work.
You dont have to be an artist to take or benefit from this workshop,” Southerland continues. “Anyone can learn the basic techniques of framing.”
There is a limit of 15 students for this workshop. To register or obtain more information, call (615)740-5600.
