Southern gospel fans will have the opportunity to meet and have dinner with singer Terry Joe Terrell prior to his concert at The Renaissance Center in Dickson on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 55 and over and $10 for children under 13. Tickets for the Dinner with Terry Terrell at 5:30 p.m. in the Gaslight Dinner Theatre are $40 and include dinner with the artist and the concert.
Terrell grew up in the small Mississippi town of Foxworth. He was brought up in Pleasant Hill Pentecostal Church, where his father, Bro. Marvin Terrell, has been the pastor for 48 years. His mom, Annie Faye Terrell, was a prayer warrior who made everyone that came there feel like family.
At the young age of 11, Terrell experienced a tragedy when his mother passed away. Over the next seven years, Terrell says he grew bitter that his world had fallen apart. During this troubled time, Terrell fell in love and married a girl from his church. God later blessed their home with a son and daughter.
He said this brought some comfort to his life, however, he knew something was missing.
Then one night, while visiting his dad’s church, Terrell says he was filled with the Holy Ghost. He finally found the Friend he had heard his mom speak of so many times.
In 1992 Terrell took a leap of faith. He went to Big Stone Gap, Va., to cut a project with the Singing Cooks. With just a small sound system and his sound tracks placed in the trunk of his car, he and his family set out to be a witness through songs.
Fifteen years later God is still opening new doors across the United States. Terrell hopes for many more years to continue to have the opportunity to tell about his Friend, Jesus Christ, and plans to bring his message in song to The Renaissance Center, where he was previously part of the Solid Gospel 105.1-FM Listener Appreciation concert.
Terrell says he also looks forward to the opportunity to meet and break bread with his fans at the pre-show dinner.
